Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) have emerged as transformative technologies that are reshaping modern computing across industries. AI enables computer systems to simulate human intelligence, while ML allows systems to learn from data and improve their performance without explicit programming. These technologies are widely applied in healthcare, finance, education, cybersecurity, manufacturing, transportation, and e-commerce to improve efficiency, automate complex tasks, and support intelligent decision-making. Recent advances in deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and predictive analytics have accelerated innovation and expanded the practical applications of AI-driven systems. Despite these benefits, challenges such as data privacy, algorithmic bias, transparency, security, ethical concerns, and regulatory compliance remain significant barriers to responsible adoption. This paper introduces the fundamental concepts of AI and ML, highlights their evolution, discusses key applications in modern computing, and outlines the opportunities and challenges associated with their implementation. The paper also emphasizes the importance of ethical governance and continuous research to ensure that AI technologies contribute to sustainable, secure, and human-centered digital transformation.
