Blockchain technology has evolved from its initial use in cryptocurrencies into a versatile digital infrastructure for secure, transparent, and decentralized data management. By using distributed ledger technology, blockchain enables trusted transactions without relying on a central authority. Beyond digital currencies, blockchain is increasingly applied in supply chain management, healthcare, finance, education, government services, digital identity, intellectual property protection, and voting systems. The technology improves data integrity, transparency, traceability, and operational efficiency while reducing fraud and transaction costs. However, issues such as scalability, interoperability, regulatory uncertainty, energy consumption, and privacy continue to challenge widespread adoption. This paper examines the core concepts of blockchain technology, its applications beyond cryptocurrency, major implementation challenges, and future opportunities.
