Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a driving force behind Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 by enabling intelligent automation, predictive analytics, and data-driven decision-making. The integration of AI with the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), robotics, cloud computing, edge computing, digital twins, and big data analytics has transformed traditional manufacturing into highly connected and autonomous production systems. AI improves productivity, quality control, predictive maintenance, supply chain optimization, and energy efficiency while reducing operational costs and downtime. This paper examines the role of AI in Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0, explores its applications, discusses implementation challenges, and highlights future research directions.
