Abstract

Movies about the past have an impact on how people remember and identify with their country. Because they attract large audiences through a combination of real events and dramatic storytelling, cinematic depictions of history are potent instruments in the building of social narratives. This study looks at how movies that depict major historical events (such revolutions, civil rights movements, or wars) impact the public's perception of those events and how they help shape national identity. the difficulties directors encounter when trying to strike a balance between being true to history and expressing themselves creatively, and the ways in which their decisions affect the national psyche. This study examines, via a comparison of different historical films, the power of cinema to influence how people see, understand, and internalize their own history and the past of other societies.
