Abstract

The practice of adapting literary works for the big screen, providing an examination of narrative strategies used in both mediums. Examining seminal adaptations, this study delves into the creative decisions and obstacles faced by filmmakers when they turn written narratives into visual storytelling. How adaptations manage to stay true to the original while also meeting the needs of the film medium can be understood by examining structural alterations, character development, and thematic interpretations. To further comprehend the ways in which various media captivate viewers and transmit meaning, it delves into the variations in narrative strategies, including the use of time, point of view, and internal monologue. Attempts to show how the transformation from text to screen presents possibilities and limitations by contrasting popular and contentious adaptations in order to change the narrative experience while keeping the core of the original literary work intact. In the end, the research sheds light on the ever-changing connection between the two forms of literature and cinema, as well as the ways narrative changes when adapted to different media.
