Abstract

Modern data systems such as databases require secure measures to be implemented and also optimization in the performance aspect. Performance optimization which concerns speed, storage capacity and data consistency in the databases has been enhanced so as to provide security. Similarly in the present environment data systems demand better and larger capacities for scalable good performing database systems which are also accessed in secure environments. These measures often feature protective tools as well as implemented technology that takes care of physical data protection and risk management along with other operational data management disciplines. It also involves the discussion of standard policies covering various aspects of data security auditing, backup and recovery and others as well as their use. For this reason, the necessary principles based on which the databases are to be configured are well detailed which includes not only the concept of the norm form, but the extension to translate the data into that form. Methods that assist managers to supervise the how the goal is achieved also come in form of physical and logical techniques. This well-reasoned paper tackles the challenges and opportunities involved in database administration and optimization with a specific focus on raising issues on database security and performance.
