Abstract

Colonialism has profoundly influenced English literature, shaping narratives of empire, identity, power, and resistance. This paper examines how English literary texts represent colonial domination and the diverse forms of resistance expressed by colonized peoples. Drawing on postcolonial literary criticism, it explores themes such as cultural identity, language, oppression, nationalism, and historical memory. The study argues that literary texts not only record the experiences of colonialism but also challenge imperial ideologies by giving voice to marginalized communities and promoting cultural self- determination.
